Everton defender Phil Jagielka's ankle problem is thought to have made him a huge doubt for England's upcoming World Cup qualifiers
Jagielka had minor surgery last weekend after being caught by Reading striker Adam Le Fondre five minutes into Everton's 3-1 win on Saturday.
The centre-back did not suffer bone or ligament damage but is struggling for fitness and will spend at least two weeks on the sidelines, according to the Daily Mail.
England face Montenegro and San Marino in just over three weeks' time, leaving Jagielka in a race against time to prove his fitness for the World Cup double-header.
The 30-year-old will also definitely miss the Toffees' FA Cup quarter-final against Wigan Athletic this weekend.
