Everton confirm that Bill Kenwright will remain as chairman, while Farhad Moshiri will join the board as part of a reshuffle among the hierarchy of the club.

Everton have confirmed that Bill Kenwright will remain as chairman, while majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri will join the club's board.

The Toffees hierarchy has come under increasing pressure to leave the club following two consecutive campaigns in which Everton have only avoided relegation on the final day of the Premier League season.

Earlier this month, Everton CEO Denise Barrett-Baxendale, chief finance and strategy officer Grant Ingles and non-executive director Graeme Sharp all left their roles on the board as part of a restructuring.

The club have now confirmed their replacements, with Colin Chong taking over as CEO and director from his current role as chief stadium development officer.

James Maryniak has been promoted from director of finance to chief finance officer, while chartered accountant John Spellman joins the board as a non-executive director.

However, the headline news is that Moshiri will also join the board as a non-executive director, while chairman Bill Kenwright will remain as chairman "during this important period of transition".

Both men have been the targets of huge criticism from supporters over the way the club has been run in recent times, with protests regularly being held before home matches last season.

The Everton board were warned off attending games at Goodison Park in the second half of last season due to apparent safety concerns.

"I wanted Bill to remain as our Chairman during this important period of transition for the club and I am delighted that he has accepted my request to do so," read a statement from Moshiri.

"Bill's knowledge and vast experience will be crucial for us as we look to reset, deliver on external investment and position Everton for a successful future.

"In John, we have an experienced finance professional who has held chief executive and senior finance roles for international firms and I welcome him to the club.

"In Colin and James, we have two experienced senior club professionals who have agreed to take on enhanced roles on an interim basis, and who we know can and will deliver immediately."

Everton have finished 16th and 17th in the last two Premier League seasons, narrowly avoiding dropping out of the top flight for the first time since 1953-54 on both occasions.

Sean Dyche's side will return to pre-season training next month and have five scheduled friendlies before hosting Fulham on the opening weekend of the 2023-24 Premier League season.
