Gerard Deulofeu: Last Merseyside derby "the worst game"

Everton winger Gerard Deulofeu says that the club's 4-0 defeat to Liverpool in April was "one of the worst games".

Everton winger Gerard Deulofeu has said that his side cannot afford a repeat of their performance in the last Merseyside derby.

In April, Everton capitulated to a 4-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield, with the Toffees fortunate not to lose by a wider margin at the home of their rivals.

Deulofeu has described that fixture as "one of the worst games", but the Belgian winger is confident that his team can turn the tables at Goodison Park on Monday night.

The 22-year-old told the Liverpool Echo: "I think it is one of the worst games I saw in the last year.

"We can't play like that this season, we need to improve because that game was very poor for Everton. But we are confident of winning against Liverpool this season."

Deulofeu is in contention to start on one of the flanks on Monday night.
