John Heitinga is to be offered a new contract by Everton in the near future, according to reports.

Everton are preparing to offer defender John Heitinga a new deal, according to reports.

The Dutch international has performed impressively this season and has helped David Moyes's side book an FA Cup semi-final spot.

Heitinga currently has less than 18 months remaining on his contract but Everton are reportedly keen to tie him down for the near future.

The 28-year-old moved to the Merseyside club from Atletico Madrid in 2009.

Everton are currently ninth in the Premier League.
