Everton captain Phil Jagielka hails John Stones improvement

Everton captain Phil Jagielka hails the improvement of teammate John Stones following his first goal for the club against Manchester United.

Everton captain Phil Jagielka has claimed that teammate John Stones is getting better with every game that he plays.

The 20-year-old defender scored his first goal for the Toffees on Sunday during their comfortable 3-0 win at home to Manchester United in the Premier League.

Having established himself in the first team at Goodison Park this season, Jagielka believes that Stones is destined for a bright future in the game.

"I told him the goal was fantastic, but his defensive work and his organisation were just as important and he's growing in that role," he told the club's official website.

"His performance itself and his communication alongside me proves that he's going to be a very good player and he's learning to be a fantastic centre-half with each game he plays."

Everton continue their league campaign on Saturday when they make the trip to Aston Villa.
