Romelu Lukaku: 'Half-hour chat with Roberto Martinez sealed Everton move'

Romelu Lukaku says that a half-hour chat with Roberto Martinez "convinced" him to sign for Everton on loan from Chelsea.

Romelu Lukaku has revealed that Everton manager Roberto Martinez "convinced" him to leave Chelsea for Goodison Park.

The 20-year-old sealed a season-long loan on deadline day following a half-hour conversation with Martinez, as well as chats with his Belgium teammates Marouane Fellaini and Kevin Mirallas.

"Fellaini and Kevin Mirallas spoke to me, but it was Roberto Martinez who convinced me," the Liverpool Daily Post quotes Lukaku as saying. "We spoke for half-an-hour, he explained to me how he wanted to work with me and what he wanted to improve with me.

"The things he said were things I was already thinking about myself. When you have a young manager who has the same mentality as you do, then he's good to work with."

Lukaku is yet to play for the Toffees due to being ineligible to face his parent club in Everton's 1-0 win over Chelsea last Saturday.
