David Moyes is reportedly not in contention to replace the sacked Ronald Koeman and return to Everton as manager.

David Moyes is reportedly not in the running to replace Ronald Koeman as Everton manager.

Moyes was installed as one of the early favourites to succeed the Dutchman, who was sacked this afternoon following Sunday's 5-2 home defeat at the hands of Arsenal.

The Scot previously spent 11 years in charge at Goodison Park from 2002 to 2013, leading the club to the Champions League in that time, but his career has gone downhill since his exit following ill-fated spells at Manchester United, Real Sociedad and Sunderland.

The Mirror reports that Moyes is not being considered by the Everton hierarchy, although he is still in contention for the Scotland job following Gordon Strachan's resignation.

Everton Under-23s manager David Unsworth is the current favourite to take over from Koeman, while the likes of Sean Dyche, Carlo Ancelotti and Chris Coleman have also been linked with the vacant post.
