Stuart Pearce: 'John Stones is a young Alan Hansen'

Former England international Stuart Pearce compares the style of John Stones to that of a young Alan Hansen.

Everton defender John Stones resembles a young Alan Hansen, according to former England international Stuart Pearce.

The former Nottingham Forest man made the comments after the Toffees 1-1 draw with Norwich City and Pearce believes that the 21-year-old's composure on the ball separates him from other young centre-backs.

The 53-year-old told BBC Radio 5 Live: "When John Stones has the ball at the feet, he is like a matador, he is so difficult to shake off it.

"He is impressive for a player of his young age, and I think he looks like a young Alan Hansen from my era. He's a Rolls-Royce of a player."

Stones has made 14 appearances for Everton in the Premier League this season.
