Everton Under-18s coach Kevin Sheedy comes through bowel cancer surgery

Sheedy's cancer op a success

Everton Under-18s coach Kevin Sheedy has revealed that he is on the road to recovery from bowel cancer after a successful operation.

The former Toffees midfielder was diagnosed with the illness in August.

"My life has been saved through early detection and I am told that over 90% who are diagnosed at the earliest stage are successfully treated," Sheedy told the club's official website. "I will need regular checks to monitor my recovery."

Sheedy spent 10 years at Goodison Park during his playing days.
