David Moyes's Everton open up their pre-season campaign with a 4-1 win over Morecambe.

Everton opened up their pre-season campaign with a 4-1 victory over Morecambe this afternoon.

The match was arranged for Morecambe manager Jim Bentley, who recently called time on his playing career with the League Two side.

The Premier League Toffees began the friendly brightly and made the most of their domination by scoring three goals without reply before the break.

Portuguese midfielder Francisco Junior opened the scoring from distance, before Apostolos Vellios doubled Everton's advantage. Rodwell added a third on the stroke of the break when he lobbed the ball into the net from close range.

Striker Victor Anichebe claimed a fourth for David Moyes's side when he drilled in a low effort from the edge of the area after the restart.

Bentley came off the Morecambe bench with 10 minutes remaining and was allowed to get his name among the scorers by the Everton rearguard with a strike from close range.
