Everton ease past Norwich City

Everton beat Norwich City 2-0 in their Premier League match at Goodison Park.

Everton have beaten Norwich City 2-0 in their Premier League match at Goodison Park.

Seamus Coleman tested John Ruddy in the opening stages, but his effort from distance was well held by the keeper.

Romelu Lukaku wasted a gilt-edged chance to score for Everton, as he headed wide from close range.

Barry gave Everton the lead midway through the first half when he picked up the ball 25 yards out from goal and lashed in a powerful strike past Ruddy.

Ricky van Wolfswinkel almost responded immediately for the visitors, but Tim Howard tipped his long-range strike over the bar.

Coleman had another chance to add to Eveton's lead, when he was picked out at the back post, but he fired his shot over the bar.

Van Wolfswinkel wasted a good chance to level for Norwich at the start of the second half, but shot a volley over the bar from a tight angle.

Everton doubled their lead in the 59th minute of the match when Kevin Mirallas curled in a free kick past the keeper.

The home side continued to dominate, but they could not add to their advantage and held on to record a comfortable win.
