Everton boss Sean Dyche is reportedly under increasing pressure to retain his job with a potential alternative having already been identified.

Everton boss Sean Dyche may reportedly be powerless to retain his job over the coming months.

Dyche came away from the 2023-24 campaign with plenty of credit in the bank having avoided a relegation battle despite two separate points deductions.

The Toffees would have only finished a point adrift of the top half of the Premier League standings had club officials not breached the financial regulations.

However, despite entering the season with optimism among the fanbase, that has since eradicated after a disastrous opening three matches.

As well as losing 3-0 and 4-0 to Brighton & Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur respectively, Everton also succumbed 3-2 to Bournemouth despite leading 2-0 heading into the 87th minute.

Dyche fighting for his job

If Everton do not improve in their fixtures after the international break, a decision might realistically be taken to remove him from his role in the dugout.

Nevertheless, according to The Sun, a change may be made regardless if prospective new owner John Textor successfully takes over the club.

The report suggests that the Lyon chief would target the services of Palmeiras head coach Abel Ferreira if he arrived at Goodison Park.

Textor has reportedly been left impressed by how Ferreira has won two league titles and the Copa Libertadores during his time at the Brazilian giants.

Ferreira boast a record of 177 wins from 309 matches in all competitions, losing 56 times yet conceding just 245 goals since his arrival in October 2020.

Less than 18 months are remaining on the contract of the 45-year-old, who counts Braga and PAOK as his previous jobs before moving to South America.

Potential stumbling block

Palmeiras are currently in the running for a third successive title, sitting three points adrift of leaders Botafogo who are coincidentally also owned by Textor.

With 13 matches remaining, it is plausible that Ferreira will insist on seeing out the season with Palmeiras at the very least.

From Everton's perspective, they are under pressure to respond in their next two top-flight fixtures, away to Aston Villa and Leicester City respectively.
