Queens Park Rangers' Joey Barton fuels speculation over Everton move

Joey Barton suggests that he could sign for Everton this summer by writing "once a blue.." on Twitter.

Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton has hinted that he is open to signing for Everton this summer.

The 30-year-old's agent Willie McKay confirmed that an approach had been made to the Toffees over Barton taking a pay cut to move to Goodison Park.

Barton has decided against playing down the rumours by writing on Twitter: "Once a blue..."

The former Newcastle United midfielder, who grew up supporting Everton, spent last season on loan from QPR to Marseille, but a permanent transfer to France is yet to materialise.
