Everton manager Roberto Martinez has confirmed that the club have turned down the opportunity to sign River Plate youngster Tomas Andrade.
The Toffees had taken the 18-year-old on trial with a view to completing a loan deal with the Argentine outfit.
However, Martinez has said that he will not pursue the midfielder further.
"It is a situation we are not going to follow up," the Spaniard told the Liverpool Echo.
"In the best interests of Tomas's development and ourselves and the players we have got in that age group it is better that we are not going to go ahead with it.
"Tomas is a very, very talented footballer and I think he is going to be a big player but at the moment I don't think we are going to reach an agreement."
Meanwhile, Everton have been linked with Barnsley youngster Mason Holgate.
