Roberto Martinez distances himself from Leighton Baines exit rumours

Roberto Martinez calms reports that Leighton Baines could leave Everton during the January transfer window.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has calmed rumours that full-back Leighton Baines could leave the club during the January transfer window.

The England international was pursued by Manchester United during the summer, but the Merseyside outfit managed to keep hold of the 28-year-old, despite the Premier League champions' advances.

"Leighton is enjoying his football," Martinez said in a press conference. "It is a time to trust the club to do the things we do."

The Toffees are currently sixth in the Premier League table.
