A second-half goal from Daniel Wass has given Evian a 2-1 victory over AC Ajaccio at the Parc des Sport.
The match started in an open fashion with both sides looking to seize the early advantage.
Ajaccio took the lead in the 14th minute when Paul Lasne headed the ball into the path of Benjamin Andre, who fired his shot into the roof of the net.
However, the lead only lasted a minute as Evian found a leveller when Cedric Barbosa found space inside the box before accurately slotting past Guillermo Ochoa.
Ajaccio almost regained the lead with 15 minutes of the first period remaining but Fousseni Diawara failed to hit the target with his header from close range.
As the second half began, Evian started to take control of the match and their dominance in possession was rewarded on 54 minutes.
Wass stepped up to take a free kik from the edge of the area and the defender rifled his shot past Ochoa to make it 2-1.
Ali M'Madi could have extended Evian's lead but the midfielder's shot was well-saved by an inspired Ochoa.
The game's pace slowed down in the closing stages and AC Ajaccio's day was made worse when Carl Medjani was sent off in the final minute for a bad foul on Wass.
