Exeter City boss Paul Tisdale revels in 'emphatic win'

Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale lavishes praise on his players following their 4-0 victory over league leaders Leyton Orient.

Exeter City boss Paul Tisdale has expressed his delight after watching his side end Leyton Orient's 100% start to the season by dismantling the league leaders 4-0 at St James' Park.

Two penalties by Tom Nichols coupled with strikes from Alex Nicholls and David Wheeler gave the Grecians what Tisdale described as an "emphatic win".

He told reporters: "It was an emphatic win against the league leaders, but it was a really tough game. I am not sure the scoreline does justice to the opposition, they were the best side we have faced so far this season, but that's football.

"We had a very simple task and that was defending against a very good attacking team and we took our chances. Goals are all important in football and I guess we got away from them.

"I have to be very encouraged by the way my team played together and defended and did what they have to do, but we saw a very good game of football against a very good Orient team and I'll be surprised if they aren't near the top at the end of the season."

Orient remain top of League Two despite the defeat, while Exeter climb to sixth.
