Exeter City edge out Morecambe

Exeter City move up to 10th in League Two with a 2-0 win over Morecambe.

Exeter City moved up to 10th in League Two with a 2-0 win over Morecambe this afternoon.

Tom Nichols scored late on to add to Shaun Beeley's own goal to give the Grecians the points.

Aaron Davies aimed a cross towards the back post for Graham Cummins, but Beeley had the misfortune of seeing the ball bounce in off his chest after nine minutes.

David Wheeler almost doubled the lead for Exeter, but Scott Davies made saved to deny the visitors.

Wheeler went close again after the break, but this time saw his attempt hacked off the line before Christy Pym was called into action to deny Jack Redshaw.

Nicholls made the result safe just before stoppage time when he hammered home from six yards out.
