FC Twente have secured their second win of the Erevdivisie season courtesy of a 1-0 victory over NEC.
The home side had the first chance of the game when Chinedu Ede carved out an opening for Hakim Ziyech, but the midfielder sent his effort just wide of the post.
Ziyech thought he had handed his side the lead minutes later when he raced through on goal and lifted the ball over Benjamin Kirsten and into the net, but his effort was ruled out for offside.
The visitors came close just before the break when Wojciech Golla rose highest in the area to head a corner at goal, but his effort went just over the bar.
In the second half, Ziyech raided forward once again and found space to drill his strike at goal, but his shot sailed wide of the post.
Twente finally got their breakthrough following two missed half-chances from Thomas Agyepong as Peet Bijen turned the ball home from close range, sending his effort beyond the reach of Kirsten.
Mohamed Rayhi almost brought the visitors back into the game in the dying minutes when he curled an effort towards goal, only to see Joel Drommel turn his strike on to the post.
