Fenerbahce were reportedly unable to agree a deal with Newcastle United for striker Papiss Cisse before the close of the Turkish transfer window last night.
Reports claimed that the Magpies were expected to receive an opening bid of £6m for the Senegal international yesterday.
However, their attempt to sign the forward failed at the last minute due to Newcastle's refusal to accept their offer, according to the Shields Gazette.
Cisse, who is said to be feeling frustrated at the lack of first-team football being offered to him, is believed to be attracting interest from Rubin Kazan.
The Russian transfer window closes later this month.
