Matias Fernandez gave Fiorentina the lead in the 25th minute of the match. Alessandro Matri laid the ball off to him on the edge of the box and he fired a low effort into the bottom corner of the net.

They scored their second just three minutes later when Manuel Pasqual got forward down the left-flank and crossed a low ball into the middle, which Matri met to poke home.

With five minutes of the first half left to play, the visitors grabbed their third goal of the afternoon. Fernandez saw his deflected effort saved by Alberto Frison, but Matri was on hand to slot the ball into the unguarded net.

In the second half, Fernandez came within inches of adding a fourth goal, but he saw his free kick come crashing off the bar.
