Luca Toni threatened for Fiorentina after 11 minutes, but his strike was well blocked by the Parma defence.

The Italian striker did eventually give the home side the lead, finishing well on 28 minutes to make it 1-0.

Jonathan Biabiany broke for Parma on 41 minutes, but he hesitated and wasted the chance as the defenders got back to close him down.

Stevan Jovetic extended Fiorentina's lead on 50 minutes to give the home side a great chance of taking all three points.

Parma tried to push forward in a bid to mount a comeback, but Fiorentina stood firm and secured all three points.
