Danish centre-back Per Kroldrup has been linked with a return to Fiorentina following news that Ahmed Hegazy will be sidelined for the next six months.
The Egyptian has made two appearances from the bench this season after undergoing cruciate knee ligament surgery in December, but has suffered a recurrence of the injury in training.
According to Football Italia, Viola are now considering a move for Kroldrup, who is out of contract after spending the second half of last season at relegated Pescara.
The 34-year-old first arrived at the Stadio Artemio Franchi in 2006 following an ill-fated spell at Everton, where he played just one game after joining for £5m from Udinese.
