Fleetwood Town sack manager Uwe Rosler

Fleetwood Town sack manager Uwe Rosler after a run of seven straight defeats across all competitions which leaves them one place above the League One relegation zone.

Fleetwood Town have sacked manager Uwe Rosler after a run of seven straight defeats across all competitions.

The Cod Army slumped to a 3-0 loss at the hands of Doncaster Rovers this afternoon, a result which saw them sink to 20th in the League One table, only outside the relegation zone on goal difference.

Fleetwood have now failed to pick up a single point from the last 15 on offer stretching back more than a month, coupled with exits from the FA Cup and the EFL Trophy.

"Fleetwood Town can confirm Uwe Rosler has been relieved of his duties as head coach," read a statement on the club's official website.

"The decision was made this evening following a run of results which has seen Town fall to seven straight defeats.

"Everyone at Fleetwood Town would like to place on record their thanks to Uwe for his hard work and professionalism during his time at the club. The search for his replacement will begin immediately."

Barry Nicholson and David Lucas will take charge of Fleetwood during the search for a new manager, starting with Tuesday's match against Portsmouth.
