France record their first win of the 2012 Olympics after overcoming North Korea 5-0 in Group G.

France have recorded their first win of the 2012 Olympics after overcoming North Korea 5-0 on Saturday.

It was France who started the better and Louisa Necib twice came close to opening the scoring with just three minutes on the clock.

The French continued to dominate as the opening half developed, and Wendie Renard fired wide from a corner after 24 minutes.

Korea's best chance of the first period fell to Ye Gyong Ri moments later, but she fired wide with Sarah Bouhaddi out of position.

Chances remained few and far between in the latter stages of the half, although Gaetane Thiney fired just wide for France before the interval.

The goal eventually came for France courtesy of a Laura Goerges header moments before the interval.

Korea improved early in the second period, and Mi Song Yun brought a smart save from Bouhaddi, before Hyang Un Kim fired wide on the hour mark.

Hui Hyon Yun was next to come close after 65 minutes, but Korea never really threatened to get on the scoresheet.

France put the game to bed late on when Elodie Thomis and Marie-Laure Delie struck to secure a 3-0 lead. Meanwhile, it was four after 81 minutes when Renard headed a Thomis corner into the back of the net.

However, France were not finished there, and they added a fifth in the final moments courtesy of a header from Camille Catala.
