Freiburg move up to fifth place in the Bundesliga table with a comfortable 3-1 win at home to Hannover.

Freiburg have moved up to fifth place in the Bundesliga table with a comfortable 3-1 win at home to Hannover.

The hosts took the lead in the 24th minute when some confusion in the visiting defence saw Christian Schulz put the ball into his own net.

It was Freiburg's turn to show a lack of concentration 10 minutes later as Mame Biram Diouf was gifted the ball before crossing for Konstantin Rausch to finish confidently.

However, the home side regained the initiative a minute before the break through Max Kruse's ruthless strike into the bottom corner.

Both teams showed plenty of attacking intent in the second half, but it was Freiburg who sealed the win in the 72nd minute when Jonathan Schmid's shot squirmed under the body of Hannover goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler.
