Fuenladbrada sack Fernando Morientes

Fernando Morientes is relieved of his duties as the head coach of Spanish outfit Fuenlabrada.

Former Real Madrid and Liverpool striker Fernando Morientes has lost his job as the head coach of Segunda B side Fuenlabrada.

The 39-year-old, who won the Champions League three times during his playing career, took charge of the Spanish third-tier side last June.

However, following a run of eight wins, eight draws and nine losses this season, he has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect.

"The decision has been very difficult and taken after a deep meditation," read a short statement on the club's official website.

Morientes has had previous stints in charge of the youth teams at Madrid and Huracan.
