Darren Bent has said that he is hopeful that his move from Aston Villa to Fulham will give him the opportunity to convince England manager Roy Hodgson to take him to next summer's World Cup.
The 29-year-old, who joined the Cottagers on a season-long loan last week, has not featured for the Three Lions since November 2011.
"I'm happy to be a Fulham player and I'm looking forward to kicking on from here," Bent told reporters. "I'm not just hungry to play football again - I'm absolutely starving.
"I've missed out on a couple of major competitions with England, but I just hope this is my year. I need to get back to playing regularly, scoring goals for Fulham. That's what I do best.
"There's still so much to come from me - I can promise you that."
Bent has been capped 13 times at senior international level, scoring four goals.
