Fulham defender Brede Hangeland believes that the club's main aim for the 2013-14 Premier League season is to avoid relegation.
The Cottagers finished 12th last season, and while the arrival of new owner Shahid Khan has brought optimism to the club, Hangeland is focused on remaining in the top flight.
"I think the expectations for the season are much the same," the London Evening Standard quotes Hangeland as saying. "My concern every year is to get 40 points and I am hoping that will be as early in the season as possible.
"It might sound like a lack of ambition but I am very happy to stay in the Premier League because I know how tough the competition is."
Fulham begin their campaign with a clash against Sunderland on Saturday.
