Peter Grant happy to continue in Fulham caretaker role

Stand-in Fulham boss Peter Grant says that he is confident and experienced enough to continue in his temporary role for as long as it takes for a new man to be appointed.

Peter Grant has insisted that he is more than willing to continue his caretaker role at Fulham while the club ups its search for a new manager.

The Cottagers, who are currently camped in mid-table, have been on the lookout for a new boss since sacking Kit Symons earlier this month.

Steve Clarke was expected to take over at Craven Cottage after holding talks with the Whites, but his shock U-turn has left the West London outfit still on the hunt for a permanent successor to Symons.

Having been placed in charge of training for the past week, while also guiding his side to a 1-1 draw at MK Dons, Grant believes that he has the quality to succeed in the temporary position.

"I have got the experience and am confident enough," he told BBC Sport. "My role is to help out at this moment while the club search to pick the right man for the job.

"They are working diligently to do that. If that takes a little bit longer, so be it. I am more than willing to help out as long as Mike [Rigg] and the chairman are happy."

Former England Under-21s boss Stuart Pearce is the latest to have shown an interest in taking up the vacant position at Fulham.
