Sunderland manager Paolo Di Canio has named Jozy Altidore in his side for the opening Premier League fixture against Fulham.

The American striker is joined in the team by fellow new recruits Emanuele Giaccherini, Cabral and Ondrej Celustka.

Fulham manager Martin Jol has resisted the urge to select new loan signing Darren Bent, who must be content with a place on the bench at the Stadium of Light.

Adel Taarabt, however, does start for the first time and there's also a competitive debut for goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg.
