Gabon to host Africa Cup of Nations

The CAF announces that Gabon have been selected to host the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

Gabon have won the right to host the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

There had been suggestions of late that Ghana were the favourites to take on the responsibility, while Algeria was also in the running.

However, following a voting process carried out by members of the CAF executive committee, president Issa Hayatou announced this afternoon that Gabon had been handed the role.

Gabon also co-hosted the tournament with Equatorial Guinea in 2012.
