Coupe de la Ligue roundup: Lorient edge past Montpellier into last 16

Sports Mole rounds up Wednesday evening's Coupe de la Ligue action as Lorient reach the last 16 after beating Montpellier.

Lorient have edged past Ligue 1 counterparts Montpellier in the Coupe de la Ligue as they ran out 3-2 winners.

Benjamin Jeannot opened the scoring for the hosts from the penalty spot, after William Remy handled the ball in his own area.

Mamadou N'Diaye replied not long after but Marvin Gakpa and Romain Philippoteaux gave Lorient a two-goal cushion, before Souleymane Camara pulled one back for the visitors.

GFC Ajaccio's tie with Guingamp was abandoned in the second half due to a waterlogged pitch.

The game was abandoned at the 55th minute with the scores level at 2-2, after Jacques Zoua broke the deadlock just after the half-hour mark, before Yannis Salibur could level it up before half time.

Louis Poggi restored the lead for the hosts just after the restart but Julien Begue equalised shortly afterwards before the referee deemed the match unplayable.

Dijon booked their place in the last 16 after they overcame Reims at the Stade Gaston Gerard.

Jeremy Bela netted Dijon's winner before the half-time whistle to send the Ligue 2 side through.

Lille had to come from a goal down to beat Troyes 2-1, as Serhou Guirassy scored the winner for Herve Renard's side.

Brayan Perea broke the deadlock for Troyes on the half-hour mark but Stophira Sunzu equalised four minutes after the break.

Alexandre Mendy scored a 90th-minute winner for Nice to send them through to the next round, after they had to come from a goal down to beat Caen.

Andy Delort gave Caen a 14th-minute lead before Mendy levelled things up in the second half.

Lakdar Boussaha's two successful penalties sent Ligue 2 side Bourg-Peronnas through to the next round, as they shocked Ligue 1 Nantes in extra time.

Nantes had to play the last half-hour and extra time with 10 men after Koffi Djidji received a red card for a foul in the box.

Toulouse reach the next round after beating Auxerre 2-1 on penalties, as Yann Bodiger's goal cancelled out Gaetan Courtet's strike in extra time.

The visitors missed four penalties in a row, while Toulouse missed two of theirs in the shootout.
