Ten-man Genoa hold on for Cagliari draw

Ten-man Genoa survive to emerge with a 1-1 draw away to Cagliari in Serie A.

Ten-man Genoa held on for a 1-1 draw with Cagliari in an eventful afternoon at Stadio Sant'Elia in Serie A today.

Diego Farias put the home side in front on 16 minutes when he made the most of some indecision in the Genoa defence to roll the ball into an empty net.

However, the visitors were back in it after the restart when Luca Rossettini put through his own net seven minutes after the restart.

Stefano Sturaro was given his marching orders on 75 minutes when he clumsily brought down Daniele Conti, but Mattia Perin rescued his side when he saved the resulting penalty as Genoa held on for the draw.
