Holland and Germany endure a frustrating goalless draw at the Amsterdam Arena.

Germany had the better of the possession and chances against the Netherlands but were held to a frustrating draw in Amsterdam this evening.

Mario Gotze looked destined to give Joachim Low's side the lead in the first half but had his effort cleared off the line by John Heitinga.

Holland were also guilty of being wasteful in front of goal, with Arjen Robben the biggest culprit.

The Bayern Munich winger rounded club teammate Manuel Neuer but lost his footing as he tried to find the back of the net.

Dirk Kuyt was surprisingly given the nod in attack ahead of Klass-Jan Huntelaar, but despite working hard he was unable to make an impact.

Marco Reus and Ilkay Gundogan also spurned opportunities for the visitors, both failing to convert from close range.

Mats Hummels threatened before the interval with a near-post header after a fine delivery from Lewis Holtby but could not find the target.

A host of players - including Lukas Podolski, Urby Emanuelson and Ibrahim Affelay - were introduced by both managers to try to break the deadlock but the match ended in a disappointing goalless stalemate.
