Late own goal gives Rayo Vallecano win

Rayo Vallecano secured all three points thanks to a late own goal, beating Getafe 2-1.

A 90th-minute own goal gifted Rayo Vallecano a 2-1 win away at Getafe in this evening's La Liga clash.

Franco Vazquez had the first effort of the game on 11 minutes, though his shot was off target.

The away side broke free again on 14 minutes through Alex Galvez, however, he could not find the finish to give his side the lead.

Roberto Trashorras was the next man to have a strike on goal after 23 minutes, though his effort was well saved by the goalkeeper.

Getafe began to push forward and had their first attempt on goal after 26 minutes, though Michel was unsuccessful with his drive.

Pedro Leon and Angel Lafita both had chances for the home side, though neither could break the deadlock before half time.

Three minutes into the second half, Getafe took the lead through Rafa.

However, the lead did not last long as Alejandro Dominguez grabbed an equaliser just five minutes later to make it 1-1.

Lafita had a header on goal cleared by the defence on 63 minutes.

Getafe broke free again on 77 minutes through Federico Fernandez, who smashed his shot straight against the post.

Vallecano snatched a late goal in the 90th minute when Diego Castro put the ball into his own net.
