Middlesbrough have come away from the Priestfield Stadium with a solid 2-0 win to reach the third round of the League Cup.
Middlesbrough started strongly and tested Stuart Nelson in the Gillingham goal a few times early on.
It was Mustapha Carayol who scored the opening goal, which came in the 23rd minute, to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.
Gillingham tried to get back into the game but Jason Steele was equal to everything the hosts could throw at him, before Cameron Park wrapped up the result in the 90th minute.
