Ivo Ilicevic has paid tribute to Pierre-Michel Lasogga after he scored twice in Hamburger SV's 3-0 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach.
Lasogga's brace before the interval was followed by a third from Nicolai Muller in the second half, and Ilicevic claims that the French striker proved his worth once again after drifting in and out of the side last season.
"It was a lot of fun right from the off. We played very well and it's a great feeling to have won. We haven't played that well for some time. We started brilliantly and survived a minor onslaught in the first half. Then we made it 2-0 and after the third goal the game was over," the Croatian midfielder told the Bundesliga website.
"Pierre was excellent today. He's a striker who doesn't need that many chances to score, which makes him really dangerous. Every player wants to start every game and at the end of the day that helps the entire squad."
Hamburg will look to build on their second win of the season against Eintracht Frankfurt next Saturday.
