Bert van Marwijk's move to Hamburger SV in doubt?

Hamburger SV's move to appoint Bert van Marwijk as manager could be affected by his choice of backroom staff, according to a report.

Hamburger SV's plan to make Bert van Marwijk their new coach has reportedly been thrown into doubt by his choice of backroom staff.

Van Marwikj confirmed at the weekend that Hamburg have been in contact about appointing him on a two-year deal after sacking Thorsten Fink last week.

The Dutchman wants former Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04 midfielder Andreas Moller as his assistant, a move that is believed to have been met with scepticism by Hamburg board chief Manfred Ertel.

Van Marwikj's insistence over his backroom staff could lead to the deal collapsing, according to Bild, with Hamburg reportedly lining up Christian Gross as an alternative.

Hamburg continued their poor start to the Bundesliga with their fourth defeat in six matches - a 3-0 defeat to Werder Bremen.
