Scottish Premiership Roundup: Dundee United pinch win over Partick Thistle

Sports Mole rounds up Saturday afternoon's Scottish Premiership action as Dundee United edge past Partick Thistle 1-0 thanks to a late Nadir Ciftci penalty.

Dundee United put pressure on Scottish Premiership leaders Hamilton Academical by pipping Partick Thistle 1-0 at home this afternoon.

Neither side created any clear-cut opportunities in a fairly uneventful contest at Tannadice Park, with Scott Fox and Radoslaw Cierzniak having comfortable afternoons in the respective goals.

That was until Partick's Dan Seaborne was given his marching orders after conceding a penalty which Nadir Ciftci converted in the closing moments.

Dundee heaped more pressure on Motherwell boss Stuart McCall, who saw his side lose 3-1 at home.

David Clarkson struck early for the visitors before goals from Gary Hawkins and Ross Stewart. A deft flick from Henrik Ojamaa for the hosts was not enough to inspire a unlikely comeback.

Ten-man Inverness Caledonian Thistle overcame St Mirren at St Mirren Park after Greg Tansey struck on the stroke of half time.

Earlier, Anthony Stokes scored twice as Celtic crushed Ross County 5-0.

Results in full: Dundee United 1-0 Partick Thistle, Motherwell 1-3 Dundee, St Johnstone 1-2 Kilmarnock, St Mirren 0-1 Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Ross County 0-5 Celtic
