The Football Association have announced that Hartlepool United's Carl Magnay has been banned for six games for spitting at a spectator.
The 26-year-old has also been fined £750 for the incident, which occurred after his dismissal in the 85th minute against Wycombe Wanderers on September 5.
The FA confirmed today that Magnay had denied the charge, but that he was found guilty by an Independent Regulatory Commission.
In a separate statement, Hartlepool said that they were "extremely disappointed" with the decision and would await written reasons before pursuing the case further.
"We will now await the written reasons for their verdict before deciding how best to proceed but we would like to make it absolutely clear that Carl retains our full and unwavering support," the club said.
Magnay, who joined Hartlepool from Grimsby Town earlier this year, has already served a three-match ban for his red card.
