League Two side Hartlepool United have announced the signing of striker Billy Paynter after his deal with Carlisle United was terminated by mutual consent.
The 30-year-old is manager Ronnie Moore's seventh signing of the summer.
"Hartlepool started speaking about taking over Billy's contract on Tuesday night and the club and the player have come to an agreement which has now made that move possible," Carlisle's managing director John Nixon told the club's official website.
"Everyone wishes Billy all the very best as he moves on to his next challenge."
Paynter, who has racked up over 400 senior appearances in his career, scored twice in his 21 appearances for Keith Curle's side.
