Hartlepool United have announced that star striker Luke James has asked to leave the League Two club.
The 19-year-old forward, who scored 16 goals in 49 games for Pool last season, handed in an official transfer request at Victoria Park on Monday.
A club statement said: "Pools striker Luke James has today handed in a written transfer request.
"The club has acknowledged the request but advised Luke that he remains under contract to Hartlepool United. There will be no further comment at this time."
James came through the academy at Hartlepool before making his debut for the senior side in 2011.
