Hearts sink Hibernian in bad-tempered Edinburgh derby

Hearts hold on to beat Hibernian 2-1 in a fiery Edinburgh derby which saw two penalties and a red card at Tynecastle.

Late goals from Sam Nicholson and Prince Bauben gave Hearts a 2-1 victory in a fiery Edinburgh derby at Tynecastle this afternoon.

Nicholson put his side ahead on 77 minutes, and Bauben doubled the lead from the penalty spot just three minutes later after Scott Robertson had been given a second yellow card for pushing him in the box.

Earlier, Hibernian captain Liam Craig had knocked a controversial first-half penalty wide.

Hearts goalkeeper Jack Hamilton, who was only recalled from a loan spell at Stenhousemuir in the week, made a reaction save from Farid El Alagui's header as Hibernian tried to claw their way back into the game in the final 10 minutes.

With tempers flaring, Hearts saw Osman Sow sent off late on for an elbow on Michael Nelson, before El Alagui scored a consolation goal with a fierce volley from the edge of the area.
