Heracles ended their seven-game Eredivisie losing streak in style with a 6-1 thrashing of NAC Breda this evening.
The Dutch top-flight's bottom club benefitted from a quick start and a first-half red card to Breda's Stipe Perica to collect their first points of the season.
Defender Jeroen Veldmate put the hosts in front from the penalty spot on 10 minutes, and their advantage was increased by Thomas Bruns a short time later.
Breda striker Perica was then dismissed for a professional foul on 29 minutes, which meant that a Heracles defence which had conceded 20 goals in seven games this term came under little pressure.
Wouter Weghorst made it three before the break and Joel Pelupessy added a fourth midway through the second half.
Breda were already resigned to a third straight league defeat when Mats Seuntjens grabbed a 75th-minute consolation, but there was still time for Iliass Bel Hassani to restore the home side's four-goal lead.
Jaroslav Navratil became their sixth different scorer in stoppage time as Heracles emphatically halted their miserable run.
