Everton youth coach Alan Stubbs is said to be among the frontrunners for the vacant managerial post at Hibernian.
The former Celtic and Bolton Wanderers defender has been given permission to talk to the Edinburgh outfit by his current employers, according to Sky Sports News.
Antonio Tapia, Mark Venus, Ian Murray and current Motherwell boss Stuart McCall have also been linked with the Hibs job, which became vacant when Terry Butcher was sacked at the end of last season when the club was relegated from the Scottish Premiership.
Hibs Under-20 coach James McDonaugh is expected to take temporary charge of the first team while a permanent successor to Butcher is sought.
