Tyler Deric own goal seals maiden Orlando City MLS win

Tyler Deric's own goal helps Orlando City to their first victory in MLS against Houston Dynamo.

Tyler Deric's 74th-minute own goal has given Orlando City their first win as a Major League Soccer franchise against Houston Dynamo.

The Florida outfit almost took an early lead in Texas when new signing Kaka threaded a pass through to Carlos Rivas, but the Colombian youngster was unable to guide his effort on target.

Houston had their own opportunity to break the deadlock when David Horst's header from Leonel Miranda's corner was inches away from putting the hosts ahead.

Rivas was again involved just after the half-hour mark when he latched on to Kevin Molino's through-ball, only to be denied by keeper Deric.

Kaka nearly opened his account in MLS after collecting Lewis Neal's pass and the ex-AC Milan attacker saw his shot from a tight angle saved.

However, City did score the decisive goal moments later after Pedro Ribeiro forced a mistake out of the Houston shot-stopper.

Orlando needed to weather a late barrage from the Dynamo, with Giles Barnes going close for the hosts, but they were able to hold on for their first victory since joining the league.
