Chris Powell believes his Huddersfield Town side lacked quality in the final third, but still put in a decent performance in their 2-0 defeat at Hull City.
Neither side could break the deadlock in the first half, but Hull newcomers Sam Clucas and Chuba Akpom gave the hosts the three points after the break.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Powell said: "The team showed a lot of application and passion. We knew we'd have to contain them.
"We still had chances and dominated the ball at times. We let the runner, [Sam] Clucas, go at a critical time and fell behind.
"We showed today that Huddersfield Town is a quality side, we just missed a bit of end product. Despite the defeat, I thought there were a lot of positives to take into the two home games next week."
Huddersfield will take on Notts County in the League Cup on Tuesday.
