Huddersfield Town end four-game losing run at home with win over Rotherham

Huddersfield Town end a four-game losing run at home by sealing a 2-0 win over Rotherham United.

Huddersfield Town secured a comfortable 2-0 win over Rotherham United to end their four-game losing run at the John Smith's Stadium this evening.

David Wagner's side managed to breathe a sigh of relief on home turf as Mustapha Carayol and Ismael Miller struck to give Huddersfield all three points.

The home side had four decent chances to nudge ahead inside the first 15 minutes of the game, with Carayol missing the target by a few inches in the first minute, while Sean Scannell, Ben Chilwell and Harry Bunn all failed to bury their goalscoring opportunities.

The breakthrough was made in the 31st minute when Carayol launched a 25-yard strike that smashed into the back of the met, swerving past goalkeeper Lee Camp.

Bunn came close to giving Huddersfield a 2-0 lead before the half-time whistle, but Camp was able to drop to the ground to save a low shot.

The first half left a lot to be desired from Rotherham's point of view, but Neil Redfearn's side managed to improve after the break when Grant Ward's cut-back to Joe Newell forced Jed Steer to save with his feet.

The visitors tried to put pressure on the Terriers, but all hope was lost when Miller slid the ball into the back of the net after charging from the halfway line in the 73rd minute.

Huddersfield are now three points above relegation, while Rotherham sit second from bottom, four points from safety.
