Huddersfield Town have completed the signing of teenage midfielder Kyle Dempsey from Carlisle United for an undisclosed fee.
The 19-year-old has signed a three-year deal with the Terriers, who also have the option to extend it to a fourth year.
Huddersfield boss Chris Powell told the club website that Dempsey was not a direct replacement for Conor Coady, who joined Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier this month.
"He embodies the type of player that fits with the club, someone who can come in and continue to develop," said Powell.
"I don't view Kyle as a direct replacement for Conor Coady. He is a different type of midfield player and will complement the other players we already have in the central area."
Dempsey scored 11 goals and provided 10 assists in 47 appearances for Carlisle last season.
